New e-Bike Sharing launched in Trani with AMET

On Thursday July 18th, the city bike rental service has been inaugurated at the bike-sharing station in Piazza Re Manfredi, near the Cathedral of Trani. Authorities and operators will be present to inform the public about the functioning of the new transportation system.

The Municipality of Trani awarded the service to VAIMOO S.r.l., a company (part of Angel Holding) based in Mola di Bari, which is already the operator of the bike-sharing service in the city of Bari and several other municipalities in Puglia and Italy.

The service, consisting of a fleet of 120 e-bikes distributed across 20 stations, will gradually start operating from the Monday following the inauguration. Its goal is to provide citizens with an integrated system that combines the local public transportation services operated by AMET S.p.A. with the new VAIMOO bike-sharing service. Additionally, users with a valid AMET travel pass will benefit from significant discounts when using the VAIMOO bike-sharing service.

“The Region funded this project with €600,000 for AMET, the transportation company of the Municipality of Trani, as part of a program promoting sustainable mobility services supported by MIT and MEF with a total budget of €3.7 million – stated Debora Ciliento, the Regional Assessor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility in Puglia – this initiative aligns with the region’s objectives to encourage sustainable mobility and intermodality, especially in urban areas. The goal is to make it easier for people to move using collective public transportation and electric vehicles like e-bikes for the last mile. There has been significant interest from municipalities and users, who are increasingly inclined to abandon private cars and enjoy the city and its streets using environmentally friendly transportation. Trani, with its beautiful views and beaches, will undoubtedly appreciate this service, benefiting both tourists and residents.”

The intervention will contribute to reducing traffic and will allow many to observe the immense historical heritage of our city from different angles. Bike sharing returns to being a pleasant reality and we are happy to be able to propose this sustainable mobility path again, which is very useful for improving the quality of life of each of us. The 20 stations will serve the whole city: historic centre, seaside areas but also suburbs, in the certainty that citizens will take care of their electric bikes this time.”

It is no coincidence that we have already thought about discount formulas that can suggest an economic, practical and ecological alternative to the use of the car.”
