On Tuesday 16 July at 12 noon, the city’s bike-sharing station in Largo Tonolli in Verbania was inaugurated, in the presence of the authorities and operators who will inform citizens about the operation of the new transport system.
The project, which has no cost for the municipalities, was implemented with ministerial contributions for the promotion of sharing mobility destined, through the Piedmont Region and the Piedmont Mobility Agency, to VCO Trasporti which, in turn, entrusted the management to VAIMOO (Angel Holding) through a public notice.
The immediately active service costs a fleet of 105 e-bikes in 27 stations, specifically
- 52 e-bikes in 15 stations for Verbania
- 28 e-bikes in 7 stations for Omegna
- 15 e-bikes in 3 stations for Gravellona Toce
- 10 e-bikes in 2 stations for Casale Corte Cerro.
The service, which will start gradually from the day after the inauguration, aims to offer the citizens of the municipalities an integrated system between the local public transport services operated by VCO Trasporti and the new bike sharing.
The VAIMOO fare plan, which is already particularly convenient, thanks to the integration with VCO Trasporti provides further discounts on the use of the bike sharing service for users in possession of a valid VCO Trasporti ticket.

‘The project,’ commented VCO Trasporti board members Dr. Barassi, Dr. Falcicchio and Dr. Tomatis , ‘developed thanks to the municipal administrations of Verbania, Omegna, Gravellona Toce and Casale Corte Cerro through the contribution of the Piedmont Region Mobility Agency, aims to improve air quality in the area, traffic fluidification, environmental impacts of sustainable mobility, the implementation of intermodality between low environmental impact bike-bus vehicles, and the provision of services for tourists. For travel over small and medium distances, Electric Bike Sharing is a concrete alternative to car use, with positive consequences in terms of traffic and environment.”

We therefore hope that this project will encourage people to explore the CUSIO by enjoying the beauty of our territory on a comfortable electric bicycle after leaving their cars in the spaces we are setting up in our town. At the same time, the bicycles will serve to improve urban circulation by decongesting the city centre from cars with great benefits for safety and the environment’.

‘With great satisfaction, our municipality will also be part of this ambitious project,’ commented the Mayor of Casale Corte Cerro Gabriele Falcioni, ‘dedicated to alternative mobility to the use of cars. The advantages will be manifold, both in terms of benefits for the environment given the lower emissions into the atmosphere, but also practical for the citizens of Casale who, thanks to the two recharging stations located respectively in the upper and lower part of the town, will be able to combine mobility on two wheels with better use of public transport, which is less frequent in the main town in terms of passages’.
