On Tuesday 24 September at 2 p.m., the city’s bike-sharing service was inaugurated at the bike-sharing station located near the entrance to Biella Hospital, in the presence of the authorities and operators who will inform the citizens about the operation of the new transport system that will be active in the municipalities involved from Wednesday 25 September.
Following the publication of the public notice issued by ENER.BIT, the bike sharing service was exclusively awarded to the Apulian company VAIMOO (Angel Holding), based in Mola di Bari and already an operator in several municipalities in Italy, including: Bari, Asti, Molfetta, Giovinazzo, Verbania, Teramo, Chieti, Giulianova, Pineto, Altamura and many others. The project also saw the involvement of the Local Public Transport Company ATAP, beneficiary of funding from the Piedmont Mobility Agency and the Piedmont Region for Sharing Mobility services.
The service, which is gradually being activated, consists of a fleet of 250 e-bikes, divided into 72 stations and aims to offer citizens of the municipalities an integrated system between local public transport services and the new bike sharing. The VAIMOO fare plan, which is already particularly convenient, thanks to the integration with ATAP provides further discounts on the use of the bike sharing service for users in possession of a valid ATAP ticket.

“The project for sustainable zero-impact mobility in the Biella region has come to an end and has been implemented – Commented the Mayor of Ponderano, Roberto Locca – thanks to the collaboration of a number of municipalities, including Ponderano, which has always sought the use of clean energy, with the company Enerbit and its president Paolo Maggia, an important company active in researching and finding alternative solutions for the use of green energy. The project envisages the positioning of e-bikes in strategic places in reserved parking spaces in the various municipalities. It will therefore be possible for users to move from one municipality to another, simply by using these pedal-assisted bicycles, as well as allowing users to reach the Ponderano Hospital for the Infirm simply, quickly and in an environmentally friendly manner. A big applause therefore to Enerbit, which has taken charge of this initiative.”

Occhieppo Inferiore Mayor Monica Mosca states: “The inter-municipal bike sharing project aims to create a sustainable network of alternative mobility that meets daily transport needs, particularly for short journeys, while at the same time helping to reduce the environmental impact and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The ideal will also be to improve the existing infrastructure, roads and cycle paths.“
Commented Michele Ansermino, Town Planning and Environment Councillor for the Municipality of Candelo: “We were pleased to join this initiative, it is for us a further action in the plan to promote alternative mobility services in the Candelo area, which goes hand in hand with what has already been achieved with the e-bike sports rental service for routes in the Baraggia Reserve.”
